U.S. Recalls Involving (1) 1999-2000 Chrysler Cirrus, Dodge
Stratus, and Plymouth Breeze Sedans, (2) 2006 Honda Civics, (3) 2006 F-150 and
Lincoln Mark LT Pickups, (4) 2006 Dodge Dakota, Dodge Ram, and Mitsubishi Raider
Pickups, (5) 2003-2006 Nissan Murano SUVs, (6) 2005-2006 Porsche 911 Carrera S and
Carrera S Cabriolet, (7) 2003 Audi A4s and A6s, and (8) 2000-2003 Dodge Dakota
Pickups, 1997-2001 Jeep Cherokee SUVs, and 1997-2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee and
Wrangler SUVs

Some U.S. year-to-date safety recalls include:
(1) 210,000 1999-2000 Chrysler Cirrus, Dodge Stratus, and
Plymouth Breeze sedans for a high-pressure power-steering hose that
may age prematurely, leak, and thereby cause a fire. There have been 168 reports of fire. The
dealership will replace the hose.
(2) 2006 Honda Civics for possible failure of the Occupant
Detection System to prevent deployment when the passenger seat is
occupied by an infant or child. The dealership will replace the ODS.
(3) 211,432 2006 Ford F-150 and Lincoln Mark LT pickup trucks for
a software error that may prevent the warning light from activating
when the anti-lock brake system is inoperative. The dealership will
recalibrate he software.
(4) 39,274 2006 Dodge Dakota, Dodge Ram, and Mitsubishi Raider
pickup trucks for "premature" lock-up of rear brakes. The recall is
reported to cover vehicles equipped with 4-wheel anti-lock brake
systems.
(5) 2003-2006 Nissan Murano sport utility vehicles for an
unprotected fuel tank that may be punctured by an object propelled
by the front tires. The dealership will install protectors in front
of the tank.
(6) 2005-2006 Porsche 911 Carrera S and Carrera S Cabriolet sports
cars for an exhaust pipe that may fall off and cause a crash. The
dealership will install a new tailpipe and secure it with a longer
weld.
(7) 2003 Audi A4s and A6s for a possible failure of fuel to reach
the engine. The versions affected are reported to have the 1.8-liter
turbo engine, the 2.8-liter V6 engine, or the 3.0-liter engine. See
the dealership or call Audi at 800-822-2834, or preferably do both.
(8) An Airtex replacement fuel pump for 2000-2003 Dodge Dakota
pickup trucks, 1997-2001 Jeep Cherokee sport utility vehicles, and
1997-2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee and Wrangler sport utility vehicles,
for plastic connectors that automotive fuels may degrade, resulting
in a possible fuel leak. Owners are advised to call Airtex at
618-847-2111 for a free replacement. (While at it, you might as well
ask who will pay the cost of labor to do the replacing.)
