Moody's Cuts GM Long-Term Debt Rating to One Notch Above Junk, Puts Ford Debt Under Review

Moody's Investors Service has followed Standard & Poor's and Fitch by cutting General Motors Corporation's long-term debt rating to one notch above junk, with a negative outlook. A negative outlook means that the debt rating service may cut GM's long-term debt rating to junk without further notice.
Moody's has also placed Ford Motor Company's long-term debt rating under review. Moody's Investors Service's current rating of Ford's long-term debt is three notches above junk, but S&P accords Ford a long-term debt rating equal to that for GM - one notch above junk.
